Good box, fresh ingredients

I ordered a Classic Meal Box. Delivery was on time. Ingredients were fresh. Recipes were easy to follow. Meals tasted good. No issues with the service. Will consider ordering again next month.

Easy meals, decent quality

So I tried out the Family Meal Box last week, you know, just to see what it was like. It arrived pretty quick, took about 4 days to get to me in Manchester after I ordered. The recipes were alright, nothing too fancy but definitely easy enough to follow, which was nice after a long day. The ingredients seemed fresh enough, and my kids actually ate everything, which is a win in my book. It's a bit more than I usually spend at the supermarket, but the convenience was a big plus. Might do it again on a busy month.

Is HelloFresh actually cheaper than just buying the ingredients from a supermarket? I'm trying to save money.

I Ivy B. 2 months ago
Honestly, sometimes yes, sometimes no. If you're buying organic or specific ingredients that you'd only use a tiny bit of, then it can be cheaper. But for basic stuff, probably not.

For me, it's about the convenience and not wasting food. I used to buy big packs of things and then half of it would go bad. So in that sense, it saves me money because I'm not throwing food away.

Does anyone know how to get one of those refer-a-friend bonuses? Is it just when you sign up someone new?

S Steve Patel 2 months ago
Yeah, if you're an existing customer, you'll have a referral code in your account settings. You share that with a friend, and when they sign up and order their first box, you both get a credit.

I think you get credit for future boxes when your friend signs up. It's usually like £20 or something for both of you. Decent incentive!

Hey guys, thinking of trying HelloFresh. How's the delivery to like, Manchester? Pretty reliable?

R Raj Walsh 2 months ago
Yeah, I'm in Bolton, and it's always been spot on for me. Never had an issue with late deliveries or anything. Comes when they say it will.

Mine sometimes comes a bit later in the day in London, but always within the delivery window they give you. You can track it too which is handy.

I saw a deal for 60% off the first box, but then it's like 25% off the next three. Is that what most people get starting out?

J June 2 months ago
Yeah, that's pretty standard for new customers. They really try to hook you in with that first box discount, then it tapers off. Still a good way to try it out.

Pretty much. I got something similar when I signed up last year. The bigger discounts are usually for new sign-ups only.

Is it easy to skip a week if I'm going away? Don't want to get stuck with a box I can't eat.

C Carly F. 1 month ago
Super easy. You just log into your account, go to 'My Deliveries' or 'Upcoming Orders', and there's an option to skip. You need to do it by a certain day though, a few days before your delivery.

Yeah, I skip weeks all the time. Takes literally two clicks. Just make sure you do it before the cut-off date, otherwise you'll still get charged.

how does the low calorie box compare to mindful chef? anyone tried both?

N Neil 2 months ago
I've tried both. Mindful Chef tends to be a bit more 'healthy eating' focused, maybe slightly smaller portions and a bit pricier. HelloFresh low cal is good, but sometimes the variety feels a bit less exciting than MC.

HelloFresh low calorie is good if you're just counting calories. Mindful Chef feels a bit more gourmet and focuses on things like no refined carbs, so it's a slightly different vibe. Depends on what you're after.

Are the meal portions actually decent for two people? Or do I need to make extra rice or something?

A Amber 2 months ago
For two, it's usually pretty good. Sometimes my boyfriend and I add an extra side if we're super hungry, but mostly it's enough. It depends on the recipe too.

We find the 'for two' boxes are actually quite generous. Often have a bit left over for lunch the next day, especially with the pasta dishes.

thinking of getting the rapid box. are those recipes actually quick? or is it like 'quick' if you're a professional chef?

R Raj Kim 1 month ago
They're genuinely quick! I've done a few of those. Usually, it's less chopping and stuff, and things cook faster. Good for weeknights.
